A spacious four-door hatchback ideal for urban driving

The Toyota Aygo is built for city driving. It’s small, it’s easy to drive, and it’s pretty spacious—meaning it can happily hold your holiday luggage. It’s also a pleasure to drive. Unlike other smaller cars, it’s quiet, comfy, and smooth.

That’s one reason why the Toyota Aygo is not just a city car. It drives just as well on the highway over short stretches as on city streets. If you’re looking to get out of town for short trips into Iceland’s countryside, it’s a great choice. It will take you to Reykjanes peninsula, the Golden Circle, and other sights close to Iceland’s capital.

If you’re going further afield, though, we’d recommend a larger vehicle, such as an estate or an SUV. They’ll be more comfortable over longer distances—particularly if you’re in a larger group—and they’ll fit more luggage in. Plus, they’ll be more suitable for winter driving.

That said, the Toyota Aygo is a reliable and affordable option for anyone looking for a smaller rental vehicle.

Note. The Aygo is not suitable for driving on F roads. For that, you’ll need a four-wheel drive that can handle remote unpaved roads.

What features does a Toyota Aygo have?

The Toyota Aygo is a 5-door petrol vehicle, with an automatic transmission. You can expect the following features from your Aygo rental vehicle from Höldur:

The Toyota Aygo has space for 4 people (including the driver) as well as 2 large pieces of luggage. As such, along with the Kia Picanto, it’s one of the smallest vehicles in our fleet at Höldur.

Who can hire a Toyota Aygo?

Given its smaller size, the Toyota Aygo is best for couples, small families, or solo travellers planning short trips. We’d suggest upgrading your vehicle if you’re in a larger group, you’re travelling further afield, or you have lots of luggage.

You need to be 20 years old or above to rent a Toyota Aygo with us. That’s the minimum age for any vehicle rental from Höldur. To rent a vehicle, you’ll also need to have:

• A valid driving licence. You need to have had it for at least one year.
• A passport, to prove your identity.
• A credit card. This needs to be valid for at least the period of rental.

It’s always recommended that you book a Toyota Aygo or any other vehicle in advance, particularly at peak times such as the summer.
