What you need to know about hiring a luxury car in Iceland

To rent a luxury car in Iceland, you’ll need the following:

• A minimum age of 23. Unfortunately, we cannot rent luxury vehicles to drivers below this age.
  

• A valid driving licence that you’ve had for at least a year. This is a rule that applies to all vehicle rentals in Iceland. You don’t need a special licence for a luxury vehicle.
  

• A credit card that’s valid for the duration of your rental. If you have a Europcar prepaid voucher, you may still need a credit card for any additional costs not covered by the voucher.

It’s also important to be aware that not all vehicles can travel in all areas of Iceland. To drive in the highlands, you need to rent a four-wheel drive. This is because most highland roads—known as F-roads—are not paved and are therefore unsuitable for standard vehicles.

The majority of prestige vehicles we rent at Höldur are 4x4s and so they’re suitable for highland F-roads. If you’re intending to drive in the highlands, confirm with your rental operator first.
